Program in American Studies

The Master of Arts

American Studies is currently a concentration available for students who wish to earn the Master of Arts degree in the Department of History.  Applications should thus be directed to the Department of History.  Further information may be found at the Department's graduate program website.

The American Studies concentration offers thesis and non-thesis options.  Thesis options are intended for students who expect to continue graduate study or to teach in secondary schools or community colleges.  Students who satisfactorily complete a thesis option will be eligible for admission to the doctoral program in the Department.  The non-thesis option, however, leads to a terminal degree.
