Timothy Scarnecchia, Assistant Professor, His book, The Urban Roots of Democracy and Political Violence in Zimbabwe: Harare and Highfield, 1964-1940 (Rochester: Rochester University Press, 2008) was published during the Fall term. He has also co-edited two Special Bulletins on Zimbabwe for the Association of Concerned Africa Scholars and participated in a roundtable discussion about the recent Zimbabwean elections at the 2008 annual African Studies Association meeting. Scarnecchia also presented a paper related to his book at the American Historical Association Meeting in New York City in January, and presented his new project on the history of Harare, Zimbabwe, at a conference on urban history at Case Western Reserve University in November and the Northeastern Workshop on Southern Africa held in Burlington, VT, in October 2008
Professor Scarnecchia is a Moulton Fellow this Spring term, working on new methods of using technology for teaching and delivering World History materials, and looks forward to a research trip in June and July to South Africa and Zimbabwe supported by a KSU Faculty Summer Research grant. |
