TECHNOLOGY
The University is committed to providing students, faculty,
and staff with up-to-date computing resources and communications
support for instructional programs, research, and administrative
operations. Continuing advances in data and communications technology
require a persistent effort to maintain an adequate base of equipment and
staff knowledgeable in its use. Therefore, upgrading the University's
technological infrastructure will be a priority.
In the area of academic and administrative systems, specific
attention will be given to the following:
Implementation of a University-wide student
information system that provides students with
access to general information about the University
and specific information from their own records and
enhances general administration and sharing of data
among all eight campuses.
Technical support and leadership for the
development of an interactive distance learning
center.
Broader access for department heads and deans to
information in financial and human resources data
bases.
Further development of hands-on hardware and
software training for faculty, staff, and students.
Establishment of a Technology Policy
Advisory Committee with faculty and staff
representatives to assist in keeping abreast of
technological developments.
