GUEST STUDENT
Admission as a "Guest Student"
enables a student to take a limited number of undergraduate courses for credit.
To be admitted in this category, students must have graduated from high
school, obtained GED certificate or achieved the equivalent.
Guest students typically take courses for job achievement, personal
enrichment or other reasons, and may remain in this status until a maximum of 12
semester hours of credit have been attempted. Guest students who wish to pursue a degree program or
continue after 12 semester hours have been attempted must apply for regular
admission. Credit hours taken in
this status may apply to a degree program with the approval of the dean. Guest students must meet all prerequisites for courses.
Anyone who has been denied
admission to, or is under dismissal from, the University is not eligible for
guest student status. Guest
students are not eligible for financial aid.
ACCESS
The ACCESS program is designed for
those people in the community who want to take advantage of the university’s
resources by sampling a course or two on a non-credit, space-available basis.
The program is not for students previously or currently enrolled or those
who intend long-term enrollment. No
grades are issued, no credit is awarded and no formal record is kept of ACCESS
enrollments.
Permission is granted at the
discretion of the instructor and is often based on whether the class is full of
credit-seeking students. Therefore,
permission may not be granted until just before classes begin.
It is expected that you will have completed the same prerequisite
course(s) that would be required for credit enrollment.
A fee of $38 per credit hour is applicable.
THIRD-AGE LEARNER
Senior citizens 60 years old or
older may take undergraduate college courses for credit and tuition free if they
meet the following criteria: Student
must be an Ohio resident for at least 12 months, and must meet an income level
of no more than 200% above the Federal Poverty Guidelines (as revised annually
by the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services).
Third-Age Learners will not be
able to earn a degree or certificate while enrolled under this classification.
A maximum of 30 attempted hours of credit can be accumulated under this
status. Registration must be
completed by the Office of Adult Services, and is subject to space availability.
Admission does not guarantee spaces in all requested courses.
If a Third-Age Learner later decides to pursue a degree or enroll
in courses for credit beyond the 30-hour limit, they will be required to meet
regular university criteria for admission, including submission of an
application form, all academic credentials required of any degree-seeking
applicant and payment of an application fee.
INSTANT ADMIT
The Instant Admission program
serves to temporarily admit adult students to the university for the purpose of
registering for classes in the upcoming term.
To be eligible, the student must have graduated from an accredited high
school or have earned a GED. If the
student has taken previous postsecondary coursework, cumulative GPA must be a
minimum of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. To
complete admission, the student must supply the Admissions Office with
transcripts within four weeks after the start of the semester.
