New Courses in Anthropology

Human Evolution labWe have recently added a new course, Issues in Human Evolution (ANTH 18631), for students enrolled in Human Evolution (ANTH 18630).  This 1-credit course meets once a week in Lowry 149 and is designed to increase student involvement in topics covered in ANTH 18630.  Weekly meetings will include: review and discussion of material relating to ANTH 18630 lectures, viewing relevant films (primate behavior, emerging viruses, human paleontology), solving problems (molecular genetics and inheritance patterns), and examining important fossil material and specimens.

These sections include some excellent visual aids such as maps, casts, worksheets, videos, and internet work.  Students will have the opportunity to examine skeletal material and casts of living and extinct primates, including some of our earliest human ancestors!  Class size is small and student involvement is encouraged.  Between 5 and 8 sections are offered every semester.  Section times will be announced the first week of classes in ANTH 18630 and are available on Web for Students.
