Partners

The Institute for Applied Linguistics is actively recruiting institutional, academic and corporate partners. The partner relationship is intended to be a mutually beneficial exchange of ideas and services between the Institute for Applied Linguistics and leading associations and companies in the language industry, as well as selected translation programs with similar interests. This relationship can involve recruiting visits, corporate internships, translation fellowships, advisory board membership, joint development of workshops and conferences, consultation on curriculum development and as well as direct participation in the LEIT initiative (LISA Education Initiative Taskforce). Exchange Programs
	The Insitute's oldest continuous exchange relationship is with the University of Leipzig . Since 1985 the Institute and its faculty have maintained faculty and student exchanges and cooperated on a number of research and publication projects.
	The University of Geneva Ecole de Traduction et d'Interprétation maintains an exchange program with Kent State University and the Institute for Applied Linguistics.
Industry and Professional Associations
	The Localization Industry Standards Association (LISA) has ca. 130 members in the localization and internationalization industry, including leading software publishers, hardware manufacturers, localization service vendors, etc.
	The American Translators Association promotes translator training and the generation of recommendations for translation programs.
Software Providers
	SDL International has supported the Institute for Applied Linguistics by providing TRADOS Workbench software for use in the training of future localization specialists and by participating in LEIT activities.
	Language Partners International has supported the Institute for Applied Linguistics by providing Corel Catalyst software for use in the training future localization specialists and by participating in LEIT activities.
	Corel Catalyst has supported the Institute for Applied Linguistics by providing software for use in the localization training program.
Training Programs
	The Translation Research Group at Brigham Young University maintains the LEIT website and supports the activities of LEIT. With the Kent State University Institute for Applied Linguistics, the TRG has developed a framework for dealing with terminological data known as the CLS Framework.
