I joined the faculty at the School of Art, Kent State University in 1985.
Responsible for teaching Art History 1 and Art History 2 (including Honors sections); and the upper-level and graduate courses Western Medieval Art (ca. 300 – 1200), Gothic Art; Northern Renaissance Art, History of Prints; and various Special Topics courses (e.g., Iconoclasm).
I have curated two exhibitions for the School of Art Gallery: “The Art of the Book” (Fall 1992) and “Three Cities of the Avant-Garde: Paris, New York and Mexico City”(Fall 2006).
Recent and current M. A. students have done theses on William Caxton, Conrad van Soest’s Altarpieces at Frondenburg, Piranesi’s etchings, and the Misericords in Henry VII’s Chapel at Westminster Abbey.
My own recent publications include articles on Netherlandish panels and manuscripts of the late 15th century, 15th century German engravings, and late 20th century art works. Currently, my research includes Robert Smithson’s Partially Buried Woodshed, Abbot Suger’s choir stalls in the newly refurbished Church at St.-Denis, and Anton Koberger’s books in North East Ohio collections.
