The Sixth Street Competition
A $1000 prize based on your original essay, open to any undergraduate enrolled in School of Art classes during the spring, 2012 – not limited to art majors). 6th Street Application

The School of Art First-Year Scholarships
Multiple awards, in varying amounts, to any art major completing her/his first year. Based on portfolio review (portfolio of at least 10 works created while enrolled at KSU) or, for art history/art education majors, sample of writing (research paper created while enrolled at KSU), as well as academic standing and financial need. You must file a FAFSA with Financial Aid to be considered, along with SoA uniform application. Deadline: 4p, 30 March, Art Office.
The Marjorie L. Collins Scholarship
One award made in memory of art alumna Marjorie Collins, for a student working toward the BFA degree in the School of Art, based on portfolio of15-20 works, strong academic standing, and financial need. $1000 for AY 2012-13, renewable annually thereafter based on same criteria. You must file a FAFSA with Financial Aid to be considered, along with SoA uniform application. Deadline: 4p, 30 March, Art Office.
The William & Hazel Schock Scholarships
In memory of two outstanding KSU painting faculty members who perished in an auto accident in 1974: One $2000 award to an outstanding graduate student, two $1500 awards to outstanding undergraduates in any major, based on a portfolio of 15-20 works of drawing/painting. Complete SoA uniform application. Deadline: 4p, 30 March, Art Office.
The Thomas D. Little Prize for Excellence in Printmaking
In memory of master printer Tom Little, KSU art student in the mid 1970’s, two prizes (1 undergrad, 1 graduate student). Apply via portfolio submission with completed application, available on the School of Art website or from Professors Michael Loderstedt and Noel Reifel. Deadline: 5p, 6 April, Art Office.
The Anthony Bartholomew/Zygote Press Residency
A residency opportunity for graduating seniors and graduate students only, provided by Zygote Press, Cleveland, in memory of KSU Printmaking MFA alumnus Anthony Bartholomew. Offers 2-week June residency in 2012 at Zygote Press, with $500 stipend. Awarded on basis of portfolio review of actual works, with completed application (available online or from Professors Michael Loderstedt and Noel Reifel). Deadline: 5p, 6 April, Art Office.
All awards are made through Student Financial Aid and are applied to winners’ KSU accounts in the Bursar’s office.

Unpaid Internships at the Cleveland Museum of Art
Interested in finding out if a museum career is for you? Unpaid internships at the Cleveland Museum of Art provide a unique opportunity to work in a variety of departments, including curatorial, education, collections management, conservation, library, human resources, marketing/ external affairs, and performing arts and film. Museum professionals serve as mentors to build on the learning experience.
How to Apply
Candidates should submit a resumé of education and employment, including a list of any relevant courses taken, as well as a 500-word essay about career goals, interest in museum work, and reasons for applying to internships@clevelandart.org.
Please note that greater consideration will be give to candidates with some previous museum volunteer experience.
Internship Terms and Application Deadlines
2011-2012 Academic Year
-Spring term 2012, 12 weeks; Wednesday February 1st- Wednesday April 25th; application deadline December 1st.
-Summer term 2012; 8 weeks; Wednesday June 6th- Wednesday July 25th; application deadline March 1st.
Two Internships are available at Hattie Larlham, which provides services to children and adults with mental retardation and/or developmental disabilities throughout northeast Ohio. Since its establishment in 1961, Hattie Larlham has expanded from its residential main campus in Mantua, Ohio to provide community care through community homes, home and foster care and an integrated day care.
The Creative Arts Intern would work up to 20 hours/week experience in developing and implementing an entire program, working with experienced artists and launching new disciplines. Read more...(downloads as a PDF).
