FACILITIES
The Athletic Training Education Program has outstanding facilities
that house state-of-the-art equipment essential to the acquisition
of clinical and academic skills. The ATEP recently expanded
its' Competency Laboratory to include two General Skills Labs;
a Modality Lab; a Therapeutic Rehabilitation Lab with a Biodex,
Inc. Isokinetic Dynamometer; and an Individual Skills Practice
Lab. Additionally, the Athletic Training Suite houses the
offices of the ATEP Program Coordinator and the ATEP faculty
to ensure easy access to the program faculty.
KSU ATEP also uses the two athletic training rooms on the
Kent Campus. These facilities - one housed in the MACC and
one housed in the Dix Stadium complex - provide students access
to additional athletic training equipment and supplies. Five
full-time certified athletic trainers and four ATEP faculty
provide the clinical instruction for students in these facilities.
KSU ATEP uses affiliate sites to supplement on-campus experiences.
Several high schools (Kent Roosevelt, Green, St. Vincent-St.
Mary) provide additional sites for athletic training students
within the program. Two clinics and their satellite sites
- Akron General Medical Center and Summa Health Care Systems
- provide clinical sites for our students. Each of these affiliate
sites has a variety of athletic training equipment and supplies
which provides the athletic training students the opportunity
to experience several different professional venues prior
to graduation.
