Jay was welcomed to the Kent State staff in the Fall of 2006 after working at the University South Carolina as the Graduate Clinical Coordinator and an Instructor for the Athletic Training Education Program. Prior to his most recent position he was the Assistant Athletic Trainer and Instructor of HPSM at Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio from 2001-2005. During 1999-2001 he served as the Men’s Head Athletic Trainer at Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio. He also served as an instructor for the Athletic Training Education Program at Heidelberg College. During 1998-1999 Jonas served as the Head Athletic Trainer at LaRoche College in Pittsburgh, PA.
Jay received his Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Athletic Training from Marietta College and his Masters of Education in Athletic Training from the University of Virginia in 1998.

He is currently a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association, while also holding membership in the Great Lakes Athletic Trainer’s Association and the Ohio Athletic Trainer’s Association. Jay is an approved Clinical Instructor and is certified in CPR/First Aid/AED.
Jay serves as an Instructor for Kent State University’s Athletic Training Program. He teaches biomechanics, Therapeutic Rehabilitation, Therapeutic Modalities, Anatomy and Physiology II, Principles of Athletic Training, Practicum I/ Practicum IV, and Introduction to the Profession of Athletic Training. In addition he oversees over thirty athletic training students in the athletic training program and assists with the treatment and rehabilitation of KSU’s student-athletes while working directly with the women’s soccer team.
His research and clinical interests include biomechanics, manual therapy, modalities, lumbar spine and pelvic injuries, and neurophysiology.

Jay and his fiancé, Sara, who is the Director of Marketing for FOMO Products in Norton, Ohio reside in Louisville, Ohio.
