The Athletic Training Education Program Faculty and Staff
bring both depth and breadth to the academic and clinical
program. The program faculty and staff have collectively over
75 years of experience in the profession. The faculty and
staff hold degrees in the field of athletic training and are
active in professional development activities at the national,
district and state levels.
The Kent State University ATEP Faculty and Staff believe
that we must combine the optimal mix of challenge and support
to promote the success of athletic training students pursuing
this career. Further, the fundamental principle guiding our
program is collaboration - among faculty and staff, among
students, and among student and faculty.
Dr. Kimberly Peer is the ATEP Program Coordinator. Ms. Cary
Hale serves as the ATEP Clinical Coordinator/CIE, Mr. Jay
Jonas serves as ATEP faculty, and Mr. Jeffery Huston serves
as Co-Clinical Coordinator and ATEP faculty. Mr. John Faulstick
serves as the Head Athletic Trainer and is the Associate Athletic
Director for Medical Services. He has four assistant athletic
trainers - Michael Heichel, Trent Stratton, Angela Textor
and Pamela Long - who serve the athletic department in providing
athletic health care. All of the faculty and staff serve as
Approved Clinical Instructors within the academic program.
Dr. Mark Hudak serves as the Medical Director for the Athletic
Training Education Program. Through his work with intercollegiate
athletics he provides general medical information to athletic
training students within the program. Dr. William Pakan, an
orthopedic surgeon, also works closely with the ATEP. Both
physicians are actively involved in classroom and clinical
instruction. All students are required to complete a rotation
with physicians.
