Our advanced Jazz I and moderate level ensemble, Jazz II, perform
a number of on- and off-campus concerts each semester. In addition to these performing groups, we have a Jazz Lab Band designed for students with limited jazz experience. The Lab Band performs between 3 and 5 concerts each year. Auditions
are held at the beginning of each semester. Jazz improvisation
is not a requirement.
The Kent State Jazz Ensemble I traveled to the Chicago area to
perform at the Elmhurst Collegiate Jazz Festival. The band has traveled to perform at this festival for each of the last 20 years. In 2007, 3 soloists received prestigious soloist awards during the festival.
