KSUMGF Summer Email #1
Hopefully the summer (or the end of your final year of high school) is going well. The purpose of this email is to begin the summer communication for the 2008-2009 Kent State University Marching Golden Flashes. This email is being sent to anyone involved in the 2007-2008 band, all interested high school students, anyone already enrolled in the 2008 band, and the 2008 members of the Flasher Brass. We apologize for duplicate emails, but we are trying to reach everyone interested in participating this year. Please feel free to forward this to anyone you know who might be interested in joining. As always, if you have any questions you will likely find the answer on our website:
http://dept.kent.edu/band/ksumgf/mgf.htm
Band camp dates have been set and can be found on the Camp Info page on our website. The dates were posted this early so that you can begin to plan effectively for the end of your summer. If you have any questions after reading the new schedule, please send an email to mgf@kent.edu.
We need ALL members of the 2008 KSUMGF to register for the class as soon as possible. That is your first and most important step toward being a member of the group. If you have registration issues such as scheduling problems, class conflicts, etc. let us know immediately. The music mailing and all further communication will only be sent to those people registered for the class, and those that have let us know about a registration problem. Again, use the mgf@kent.edu email address to inform us of problems.
We also need everyone to complete the camp registration form on our website as soon as possible (hopefully by the end of May). We are planning to mail music to you early in June. In order to do that we need to know what instrument you play, and what part you feel most comfortable playing. (We only have “auditions” occasionally, and only to determine parts. Usually we are able to determine what part you should play from the comfort level you indicate when you fill out our Camp Registration form.) We will use that information to assign parts for at least the early part of this season. The form can be found by clicking the Camp Reg. button on the navigation bar at the top of any page on our website.
We are excited to get the 2008 season started. As we continue our preparations we will keep you posted both through your KSU email addresses and through our website. Please check both frequently, and as you come up with questions please feel free to email us at the mgf@kent.edu address. We are looking forward to a successful season.
Sincerely,
KSUMGF Staff
KSUMGF Summer Email #2
Hello Everyone,
I hope that your summers are going well and that you’ve found some time to relax. This second email is being sent to everyone in the class. Please read it carefully, and if you have any questions, please email mgf@kent.edu.
First, most of you have completed our online form. We need those of you that have not completed the form to do it right away. We use the information we collect from that form to make sure our mailings go to the right place and to set up band camp housing for those students that need it.
Speaking of band camp housing, we need to know if you will NEED housing for our pre-camp on July 25-27. We did not ask about this on the online form, so you need to let us know by email if you need housing for this event. Please email mgf@kent.edu BEFORE JUNE 20, 2008 to let us know if you will need a room. In the email simply include your name, and the fact that you DO need housing for the weekend.
The music mailing went out early last week. If you added the class in the last few school days, you won’t receive your packet for a few additional school days. Please let us know if you did not get a packet or if a specific song is missing. “Free Ride” was accidentally left out of all of the packets; you don’t need to tell us about that one. We will mail that out to everyone in a few days (once we know what else you are missing). As usual, if you have any questions or need any additional information, please just email mgf@kent.edu.
Sincerely,
MGF Staff
