Faculty: Donna Lee - piano

Referred to as ". . . an elegant and refined pianist" (Il Fromino), Donna Lee is Professor of Piano at the School of Music at Kent State University . Making her solo debut in 1990 with the National Symphony Orchestra, Ms. Lee has since appeared as a soloist and collaborative artist at Kennedy Center 's Concert Hall and Terrace Theater in Washington , D.C. , and Lincoln Center 's Alice Tully Hall in New York City . Internationally, she has performed in Beijing , China ; Merano , Italy ; and Stockholm , Sweden . She has also toured Japan as the guest artist of East Winds Quintet, and has performed at the Gotland Chamber Music Festival in Sweden .

Ms. Lee has been heard in broadcast performances over radio stations: WQXR , NY ; WGMS, Washington, D.C. ; WKLM, Michigan ; Swedish Radio, throughout Sweden ; and Voice of America, Far East . She has recorded for the Proprius, Vanguard Classics ( Europe ), and Oxford University Press labels.

Ms. Lee earned her degrees from Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University (DMA), The Juilliard School (MM), and the University of Maryland , College Park (BM), where she studied with prominent artist-teachers Julian Martin, the late Rudolf Firkusny, and Thomas Schumacher, respectively. Ms. Lee has taught at Peabody Conservatory and Bucknell University ; during the summer, she is a faculty member of Interlochen Arts Camp.
