Pay Plan, Pay Rate Changes

  • Pay Plan
    • Student employees will be paid in accordance with the KSU Student Employment Pay Plan. Classification title and hourly rate are based upon the nature of the job. Students are not permitted to earn more than $12.00 per hour. A department wishing to employ a student having special skills or training at more than $12.00 per hour must contact the Career Services Center at 330-672-2360.
  • Pay Rate Changes
    • Pay raises should be submitted directly to the Career Services Center. It is recommended that increases be based on overall written performance evaluations (created by individual departments), types of responsibilities held, or any special qualifications or training required to maintain the position. Click HERE to download a Pay Raise Request Form.
    • Pay rate changes become effective on the first day (Sunday) of the work week for which a pre-printed timecard has not been issued. The effective date of the pay raise will be determined by the Career Services Center at the time the new pay rate and assignment are entered on HRS, generally within 48 hours after receipt of the request. The pay rate change becomes effective on the first day of the next workweek for which a pre-printed time card has not already been issued. Rate changes are not retroactive.
    • If a FWS student employee's hourly pay rate is changed, the authorized maximum FWS earnings are not increased. The pay rate for a FWS student employee is directly proportional to the award and to the number of hours the recipient is authorized to work. The student simply earns the award at an increased rate. When the student has earned 75% of the FWS award, the FWS will be adjusted accordingly based on financial eligibility during the employment period. If the student is not eligible for an adjustment, the employing department is notified. All adjustments to FWS awards must be directed to the Student Financial Aid Office. The Career Services Center does not monitor the Federal Work-Study Program.
