LEMNITZER CENTER

Why the "Lyman L. Lemnitzer" Library?  In April 1982, The Lemnitzer Center for NATO and European Union Studies was formally named after this distinguished participant in the affairs of the Atlantic Alliance. Lyman L. Lemnitzer served for 27 years as a General in the U.S. Army, and for a total of 51 years in active military service.  His professional achievement record as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; supreme allied commander, Europe 1963-69; vice chief and then chief of staff of the Army; and commander in chief, Far East, speaks for itself.  Learn more about this general in the  biography, Lemnitzer, A Soldier for His Time, by L. James Binder.
