Dr. Rubin was the Director of the Center for International and Comparative Programs since 1991 and on the staff since 1980. He is now an Emeritus Professor of French at Kent State University.
During his directorship he has negotiated
numerous exchange agreements with international universities for students
and faculty. He regularly works with students who are interested in
studying abroad. Annually he takes a group of Kent State students to
Washington D.C., where they participate in the National Model NATO
Conference, a program co-sponsored by Kent State and Howard University.
Professor Rubin has traveled extensively to represent Kent State University. He has made several visits to Western Europe, especially to France and Switzerland, and to Eastern Europe (to the former German Democratic Republic, as well as Poland, Russia, and Lithuania). He has represented Kent State to universities and businesses in China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Malaysia. Rubin has been on the Kent State Geneva Semester faculty for one semester, and has served as the on-site Director for three semesters. He also serves as the Associate Director for the Lyman L. Lemnitzer Center for NATO and European Union Studies. Dr. Rubin is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Rutgers University and holds the A.M. and Ph.D. in Romance Languages and Literatures (French) from Princeton University. In addition to his administrative duties, Dr. Rubin also teaches in the French program at Kent State University. His record of scholarship includes more than 20 articles, translations, and book editorships as well as a variety of conference presentations in the United States and abroad. He recently co-edited NATO after 50 Years, (Scholarly Resources, Wilmington, DE,), published in March 2001. |
