 Lawrence
R. Chalmer is the Director of the NATO Staff Officer Orientation Course
and a professor
of international relations at National Defense University, Washington,
D.C. He was a Massachusetts Institute of Technology Seminar XXI
Fellow in Foreign Politics and International Relations, and is a graduate
of the Senior Managers in Government Program of Harvard University’s
Kennedy School of Government.
 In addition
to his University program and faculty responsibilities, he has led or
participated in delegations providing NATO orientation to Bulgaria, the
Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Ukraine. As part of a NATO
collaborative team, he has produced recently a web-based series of lessons
as an introduction to NATO. His recent public diplomacy outreach work
includes NATO related lectures and discussions in Vienna and Graz,
Austria.
