Jerry Feezel's focus of research
and teaching is language semantics and instructional communication. He also
specializes in communication in aging and intercultural communication. In
addition to numerous state, regional, and national conference papers, Jerry has
authored over 60 articles in Speech Monographs, Communication Education,
and a dozen other journals. He authored one book, co-authored another, and has
chapters in three other books. As graduate faculty, he has directed 27 graduate
theses and dissertations plus non-thesis papers. He has also traveled, taught
and studied in England, Europe, and China.
Jerry
also directs the University-wide Orientation of Graduate TA's (ONTAP), serves as
Interim Associate Dean in Research and Graduate Studies, and is a Faculty
Senator.
A former high school
speech/theatre and English teacher in Illinois, Jerry has a B. S. in Education
from Southern Illinois University, and his M. A. and Ph. D. from the University
of Wisconsin (Madison) in Communicative Arts (educational psychology minor). He
has held numerous professional offices in over 35 years of university teaching
including chair of the SCA Instructional Development Division (twice) and
President of both the Washington & Ohio Speech Communication Associations. He
has been honored with both major awards from the Ohio association: Outstanding
College Teacher (1984) and Distinguished Service Award (1988).
Jerry lives in Kent with his
wife Jenelle. Their son, daughter (and spouses) have given them four
grandchildren to enjoy.
