The importance of caring relationships among people has been reportedly demonstrated by several areas of research to help create better psychological development and wellness (Rhodes 2002). For a group to successfully work together bonds must be formed on both a form and informal basis.

There are strategies that empowering others by building up their confidence in their actions and in turn they better the group.

Tips on How to Empower Others in a Work Environment

  • Identify steps to improve and encourage listening skills. It is important to listen to what other people have to say.
  • Establish a sense of team, instead of using the word "I" replace it with the word "we" This is an inclusive word that causes people to think in terms of the group rather than the individual.
  • Asking for volunteers gives people choices, which builds commitment when people do not feel forced, and builds motivation by giving others some kind of control.
  • Find a person with high social skills, someone who could be known as a "people person" to talk to and observe their actions toward others to gain knowledge and apply the it to your personality on how to interact with people.

It is important to know yourself and encourage others when they make mistakes and to make the appropriate changes in action or language to reach their desired results.

Nonverbal communication is as important as verbal communication when attempting to empower others.

Active listening skills may be just as important as any other type of communication that a person uses to let people know that they understand one another.

There are ways that a person can respond to verbal attacks using pre-developed responses to situations with tension.
