Celebration
of Scholarship
An annual spring
event, Celebration of Scholarship acknowledges the excellence of
Kent State scholars and their works by supporting the cultures of
research and creative activity. Each year, fpdc helps
support the University
Research Council and Research
& Graduate Studies in promoting, supporting, and
celebrating the scholarly works of students and faculty within the
Kent State University community. |
Campus
Conversations
The
fpdc co-sponsors Campus Conversations, a format through
which discussions on the scholarship of teaching take place.
The purpose for Campus Conversations is to bring diverse groups
together who are involved in the study of teaching to reflect on
the individual and collective efforts and processes taking place
within the KSU community. These conversations take place
through a variety of forums, sponsored Breakfast('s) with the
Provost, and the
annual Conference on Teaching, which is held in partnership with
the University Teaching Council. |

WIS&E Brown Bag Lunches
Women in Scholarship and
Education is a brown bag lunch series of presentations and
discussions held either in the fpdc or Women's Resource
Center. The purpose of the program is to provide the KSU
community the opportunity to learn of the scholarly work being
conducted by women at Kent State University. Each meeting takes
place the second Tuesday or Wednesday of the month with a special
luncheon and lecture held in the spring at the Kent Student Center.
Service
Learning Brown Bag Lunches
Throughout the academic year, fpdc sponsors Service Learning
Brown Bag lunches every first Monday of each month. Faculty are
invited to bring their lunch and participate in presentation discussions
led by faculty who use Service Learning as part of their classroom
instruction. All sessions are held at the Faculty Professional
Development Center, Room 217 Moulton Hall from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
Reappointment,
Tenure, and Promotion Workshops
Sponsored
by AAUP
and fpdc, a series of workshops take place throughout the year
designed to help faculty with the reappointment, tenure and promotion
process. Faculty are assisted through a broad range of discussions
and activities on such topics as beginning file preparation, policies and
procedures, organizing files, and file and portfolio development. In
addition, housed in the Faculty Professional Development Center are
tenure files belonging to several Kent State University
faculty. These files are available for review to help faculty with
their reappointment, tenure and promotion files.
