Teaching
Scholars for 2000-2001
Min
Qi
Biography
Min Qi obtained her Ph.D. in Economics from the Ohio State University.
She is currently an assistant professor of economics at Kent State University.
She teaches Principles of Microeconomics as well as Econometrics at all
levels. Her research interests are applied econometrics, financial econometrics,
computational methods, forecasting, and neural networks. Her hobbies are
reading, poker, and Chinese cooking.
Teaching
Project
Professor Qi's participation of the Teaching Scholars Program
is aimed at achieving a better understanding of her undergraduate students,
and to find effective ways that can engage them in active learning and
in applying principles of microeconomics. This is not an easy task given
the diversity in our students' ability and background, the limitation
of our usually large class size (150 to 200 students per session), and
the potential culture gap between the students and instructor.
