Teaching
Project
Dr.
Robinson’s participation in the Teaching Scholars Program is
aimed at more effectively introducing students to foreign peoples
and cultures removed from them by both distance and time. He
hopes to better design his history courses to meet such general
goals of a university education as: critical thinking, exploring
ideas contrary to one’s own beliefs, and collecting and
analyzing information and data. More specifically, he hopes
to improve the use of discussion groups in teaching and to devise
more self-directed assignments in an effort to develop student
motivation for further learning.
