I conduct research within the overall field of Engineering
Geology at both the Master's and Ph.D. levels. My main interest is in conducting
research that can explain the engineering behavior of soils and rocks in terms
of their geologic makeup. Specifically, my research interests focus on
engineering behavior of weak rocks (shales, claystones, mudstones, etc.), stability
of slopes in both soils and rocks, evaluation of construction materials,
engineering applications of waste materials, and environmental hazards
such as lakeshore erosion, mine subsidence, and structural damage due
to blasting operations. Research in these areas involve both field and
laboratory work. Previous research areas are in Kentucky, Illinois, West Virginia,
Pennsylvania, and Ohio. A number of our research projects are conducted
in collaboration with local engineering firms as well as government
organizations such as Ohio Department of Transportation and the Ohio Environmental
Protection Agency. 1982 - Ph.D., Engineering Geology, Purdue University 1978 - M.S., Engineering Geology, Purdue University 1968 - M.S., Engineering geology, University of Leeds 1964 - M.S., Geology, Punjab University 1963 - B.S., Geology, Punjab University |
