Ph.D., Kent State University
My teaching responsibilities focus primarily on the Liberal Education Requirements in the Department of History, i.e. both the world civilizations series and the U.S. surveys. The upper division courses, which I offer on a rotating basis, include Ohio history (Hist. 31061), the French Revolution and Napoleon (31789), seventeenth century Europe (41017), and France since 1815 (presently a special topics course). I am delighted to have been honored twice with the Stark Campus Distinguished Teaching Award (in 1978 and 1985).
My research focuses presently on two distinct areas: the French Revolution and Ohio history. In the former, I have presented papers and have published on the émigrés who exiled themselves to the United States in the 1790s. As for the latter, I have centered my activities on the historic dimensions of Stark County.
