Eric Jefferis, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Justice Studies at Kent State University.  He is also a Research Fellow at Kent State University's Institute for the Study and Prevention of Violence (ISPV).  Current projects include serving as co-Principal Investigator for several funded projects, including: the Northern District of Ohio's Project Safe Neighborhoods Researcher; the Internet Mapping and Analysis for Police Problems Solving (iMAPPS) project; Evaluation of Ohio's Title II programs, and; the 2006 Census of Law Enforcement Gang Units.  Dr. Jefferis' research interests include evaluation research, the spatio-temporal analysis of crime; hot spotting methods; factors that influence citizens' perceptions of the police; and the effectiveness of new policing strategies and technologies.  Prior to joining the ISPV, he was a Social Science Analyst at the National Institute of Justice.  He received a B.S. from the Pennsylvania State University, an M.A. from Radford University, and his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati.
