Patrick is the Director of the Center for Innovative Practices (CIP), a Coordinating Center of Excellence, supported in part by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and a part of the Institute for the Study and Prevention of Violence at Kent State University.  The Center’s mission is the identification and dissemination of evidence-based and promising practices within the youth and family behavioral health system of care.  In addition to MST dissemination, the Center is also explores partnerships with other recognized EBPs and is providing dissemination leadership related to intensive home and community based services; resilience; an emerging promising practice of an Integrated Co-occurring Treatment (ICT) model for youth with dual diagnosis of substance abuse and mental illness and involved in the juvenile justice system. CIP is also developing capacity for research and evaluation technical assistance. 

Previously he was an independent consultant for 10 years, specializing in community-based, inter-system policy and program development, with particular focus on youth and family issues. He has provided consultation services to a number of local, state and national organizations. Patrick previously served as Chief of the Bureau of Children’s Services, Ohio Department of Mental Health.  He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Special Education

Patrick is on the Board of the Georgetown Children’s Mental Health National Technical Assistance Center.  Patrick is also a program reviewer for SAMSHA’s National Registry of Evidence Based Programs and Practices (NREPP).
