Mrs. Mitterling is an MST (Multisystemic Therapy) Consultant for the Center for Innovative Practices (CIP).  Located in Stark County, OH, but a statewide resource, the Center is a Coordinating Center of Excellence and an initiative of both the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Kent State University.  The primary mission of the Center is to identify and disseminate evidence-based practices and to provide ongoing support for their implementation, including but not limited to MST.

Prior to this position, Mrs. Mitterling served for 5 years as the site supervisor and program manager for the Stark County MST Program.  This site participated in a randomized clinical trial conducted by Dr. Jane Timmons-Mitchell, Ph.D., which was the first independent replication study of MST with a juvenile delinquent population..  Under Mrs. Mitterling’s supervision and management, this MST site was recognized by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) as one of the top ten juvenile justice programs in the nation.  This site also participated in the production of an MST video disseminated internationally for parents considering the program for their families. 

Mrs. Mitterling participated in the production of a videotape demonstrating the use of formal outcomes instruments (Ohio Scales) in clinical supervision that was disseminated statewide by the Ohio Department of Mental Health.

Mrs. Mitterling’s previous employment includes positions as MST therapist, crisis intervention and pre-hospital screening counselor, group therapist for adult male domestic violence offenders, and psychology assistant within a juvenile court.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in community counseling.  She currently is licensed as a registered nurse and works on a telemetry unit at an area hospital on weekends.

Mrs. Mitterling resides in Bolivar, Ohio, with her husband, Terin, and her children, Mikayla (9), Caden (6), and Ashlyn (1).
