Jane Timmons-Mitchell received her bachelor’s degree Magna Cum Laude with Honors in Psychology from Wellesley College, and her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Psychology and Clinical Psychology from Case Western Reserve University.
Dr. Timmons-Mitchell is Associate Clinical Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She also teaches at the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences. A child clinical psychologist, Dr. Timmons-Mitchell has been associated with child abuse, juvenile justice, and substance abuse in clinical work and research projects over the years. For ten years, Dr. Timmons-Mitchell worked on Multisystemic Therapy (MST) projects, as a therapist, supervisor, program director, researcher, and consultant. Her present position is Associate Director of Evaluation and Research with the Center for Innovative Practices, Institute for the Study and Prevention of Violence, Kent State University.
Dr. Timmons-Mitchell, a long-time resident of Cleveland Heights, was the Speech and Debate coach at Cleveland Heights High School for five years (1999-2004) and was instrumental in the building of the Cleveland Heights Community Center. Dr. Timmons-Mitchell is in her twenty second year singing in the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus. Dr. Timmons-Mitchell is married to Robert Mitchell, LISW-S, CCDCIII, whom she met while singing in the Chorus. They have two children. Clare, a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of The College of Wooster, has recently received her M.A. in Psychology from CWRU and is in the process of being admitted to candidacy for the Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, with a concentration in Geropsychology. She is soprano soloist at Heights Christian Church in Shaker Heights, OH. Stephen is a sophomore Mechanical Engineering major at Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, IN. He sings in the VU Chorale, a touring ensemble, and is a member of Phi Mu Alpha, the national music honorary fraternity.
