About the Kent State University Foundation...

The Kent State University Foundation Inc. was formed with the conviction that excellence in higher education could be enhanced with the infusion of private investment. The foundation works to create an awareness of the university's financial needs and raises funds to support identified programs and projects. Although it is a state-assisted institution, less than 39 percent of the university's total operating budget is currently provided by the State of Ohio. As the proportion of state support continues to decline, private contributions play an increasingly important role in sustaining Kent State's quality and distinction for years to come.

Incorporated in 1965, the foundation is a not-for-profit entity that receives monies on behalf of the university, manages and invests those funds, and administers them in accordance with donors' wishes. While serving only Kent State, the foundation is legally separate from it. Foundation staff work closely with university administration and faculty, the Kent State University Alumni Association, and with volunteers across the nation.

The foundation is governed by a Board of Directors who safeguard and manage the assets derived from private support. Many are leaders in the business and professional community. All serve without compensation and contribute their considerable expertise and resources to ensure a bright future for Kent State University.
