THE
TRUTH DEMANDS JUSTICE
Q. Who can
join? A.
The May 4 Task Force is an open membership organization - anyone who attends
meetings regularly is considered a member and is free to join in discussions
and offer suggestions on programming regardless of your status of
Undergraduate or Graduate Student, Community Member, KSU Staff or another
individual. BUT - we are a registered KSU Undergraduate Student organization,
so only undergrads are allowed to hold elected office. Q. When are M4TF Officer Elections? A. Elections are typically held in the spring
semester, but positions may be filled throughout the year if needed. Q. Are
there fees to join the M4TF? A.
No. We do not collect dues. Q. When
are your meetings? A. M4TF Meetings are traditionally Thursday
evenings during the academic year. 7pm
in the May 4 Resource Room on the 1st floor of the KSU
library. The meetings are open to the
public – all are welcome. Q. I can’t
make the meetings, can I still be involved? A.
Yes! We have an active email list that
offers comments on current activities, as well as answers calls for help to
staff events and programs as needed.
Just email us and we can add you to the list! A
reminder: We welcome ALL
perspectives on the legacy of the May 4, 1970 events as long as they are not
personally abusive or ultimately disruptive to our programming. This includes postings to our email list
as well as our meetings and public programming. Q. When are your annual scholarship awards and
design contests? A. Typically we announce these events in the
beginning of the spring semester of each year. Check back then! Q. I’d like to volunteer, but I don’t know
that much about what happened – can I still help? A. Of course!
We love to include people who are just learning about these important
events. It may sound like it’s going
over your head for a little while – but we’ve got plenty of ways that you can
find out more information! Q. I don’t consider myself a “Hippie” or even
“Left-wing” – would I feel comfortable in a meeting or an event? A. Above all, our main goal is education. And we all need to be respectful of those
individuals who may have differing opinions than our own. That said – some discussions can be heated. We do our best to keep up with the rules
and regulations on our campus about freedom of expression and the best ways
to go about getting our messages across to the greater Kent State University
community and we also trust that those who attend our meetings and
programming will do the same. The M4TF
welcomes ALL perspectives on these events as long as they are not personally
abusive or ultimately disruptive to our programming. Those
who do not comply with this basic request will be asked to leave until they
have calmed down, or if the matter persists – we will request assistance as
necessary. |
