This program
requires 33 hours of coursework plus a comprehensive final examination,
or 27 hours of coursework plus a thesis. Either option must include
18 hours of coursework in Latin.
Students
may combine a graduate major in Latin with a minor in another field (see
the adviser for approval). This can be done by completing 18 semester hours in Latin courses and 12 semester hours in another
department. Graduate students in other programs may elect a Latin
minor by completing 12 semester hours in Latin.
This program
is designed for those interested in, or who currently teach Latin
at the secondary level. It requires 36 hours of coursework and
a final project. Students take courses in both Latin literature
and foreign language pedagogy, including the use of computers
and the Internet for foreign language teaching.
