Hello and Welcome! to the web site for Kent State University's Master of Public Administration (Kent-MPA) program.

The MPA degree is widely recognized as advanced preparation for managers and other policy professionals in public and nonprofit agencies, policy institutes and legislative committees. Courses are oriented toward the special environment of these organizations.

Why should you be interested in a Kent-MPA? Degree programs are distinguished by the curriculum features they offer, and also by the faculty who teach the courses.

Curriculum Features of the Kent-MPA Program:

  • Accreditation--The Kent-MPA program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA), on the basis of our curriculum and our performance.
  • Career Options--The Kent-Master of  Public Administration program offers prospective students the option of  majoring in either of two concentrations: one in Public Management, the other in Public Policy.
  • Quality and Flexibility--Core courses in each concentration provide a general foundation for management and or policy skills. Students then customize their individual course of study through electives and a final project.
  • Online Degree Program-- The Kent-MPA program is not like other web based degree programs. Our web degree features are supported by state of the art home-based audio conferencing built into each course. Throughout the semester, students participate in live classroom sessions from their home, office or hot-spot. Our students do not feel they are alone as is the case in most web-based programs.
  • Access to Graduate Education-- Our online degree program offers an attractive option for students who are juggling responsibilities other than graduate study, such as full-time work commitments and or are the primary caregivers in their homes.
  • Focus on Physically Disabled Students. The Kent-MPA is the only MPA program in the United States whose online program meets and or exceeds ADA-Section 508 accessibility requirements. The Kent-MPA has expertise in adaptive hardware and software vital to students with physical disabilities.
