Bodice or corset altered from an eighteenth century original, possibly Italian. Embroidered silk damask exterior with linen lining. Center front and center back lacing.

White cotton corset from circa 1820.
T rapunto needle work forming a series of three straight tunels with two curvilinear tunels in between. Constructed with two triangular insets per breast and two per hip. Laced at center back. The inscription "E.A. Pillsbury" is found on the underarm. Extremely small, probably a child's.

Trapunto needle work forming floral motifs at the hip level and diverse diagonal tunels all over. Constructed with two triangular insets per breast. Wooden busk at the center front and lacing at center back.

Ttrapunto needle work forming curviliniar motifs which follow the princess seams, side seams, and center back openings. The trapunto suggests a triangular inset at the breast but the volume is constructed with the princess seam. Laced at center back.

Pleated triangular panels for the breasts. A serie of two narrow cotton straps attach these panels to the back. Buttonned at center-front with back lacing.

American white cotton corset with buttoned center front and back lacing. A white cotton panel is attached under the back laces. A set of two buttons can be found on the center front and center back princess seams, and at the side seams.
