The Green Zones of the 21st Century
by Kyoung Hee Cho
Media used: Dyeing sating, Smocking shapes made with very elastic thread inside.
Draping technique for the dress shape, Rosettes individually hand made by folding together
satin bias and horse hair bands, Interlocking for dress outline.

The purpose of this project was to create a dress that symbolized my image of the "Green Zones" in the 21st century. The "Green Zones" are the areas of nature that are safe, preserved, pure, green, and give life. My green represents my desire for the Green Zones of nature to last forever despite our pollution of the environment. The silhouette of the dress and the color green tone gradation resemble a tree, which have visual metaphorical references to the unchangeable and potential power of nature. The rosettes on the surface allude to the vitality of the Green Zones in creating new energy, birth and life.
