of pink, lavender and green wool and ecru cotton with Structure:
Double weave Corner maker's mark: Wove by/J Sherm/an for/M/Nourse/1844 Kent
State University Museum Josiah Sherman advertised "Fancy Coverlet Weaving" in the Livingston Register in New York State on July 4 and 11, 1837. Other known coverlets with his mark date from 1836-1848. The 1840 New York Census, Livingston Co., Mt. Morris, lists him as a 40 to 50-year-old head of household engaged in manufactures and trades. The pattern of this coverlet is typical of others found in New York State. From
