The author of Gone with the Wind, Margaret Mitchell

Gone with the Wind was Mitchell's only novel. She spent most of her time after its publication fighting for copyright protection, as most of the foreign editions were printed without acknowledging her interests or paying her royalties. When she died in 1949, the victim of a drunk driver, Mitchell still did not have the copyright protection she had sought for American writers.
