Lace: The Art of Needle and Bobbin
Higbee Gallery, March 23, 2007 - January 6, 2008
Jean Druesedow, Curator

Needle Lace

Needle lace developed from embroidery in the third quarter of the sixteenth century. It is worked with a needle and thread to make detached buttonhole stitches over an outline thread using a drawn pattern for a guide. The finer the thread and the more variety in the density of the stitches, the more complex the resulting lace will be.
