Portrait of Master Coons
Oil on canvas, unknown maker, Chillicothe, Ohio, ca. 1800-1830.
Collection of the Ross County Historical Society, no number.

The child depicted is assumed to be Duncan McArthur Coons (1772-1839), the son of Effie McArthur and her first husband, Elijah Coons. However the depiction is not that of a eighteenth-century child as his garments date from ca. 1800-1830. The portraits is currently on display at the Ross County Historical Society in Chillicothe, Ohio.
