Silk exterior quilted to a light blue linen interior with a layer of fine
wool batting in between. Worn as informal day wear.

England, ca.1740s
Ivory silk brocade with floral and vine designs.
The bodice was worn as informal day wear and originallymight have been
styled
as a robe à la française. Bodice and sleeves lined with
natural linen. Possibly
used to clothe an altar figure. The once-unseen back is made of linen.
