Taupe Quilted Petticoat
Europe or America, ca.1760-79
Silk exterior quilted to a light blue linen interior with a layer of fine
wool batting in between. Worn as informal day wear.

Worn with:
Caraco Jacket (Short Bodice)
England, ca.1740s
Ivory silk brocade with floral and vine designs.
The bodice was worn as informal day wear and originallymight have been styled
as a robe à la française. Bodice and sleeves lined with natural linen. Possibly
used to clothe an altar figure. The once-unseen back is made of linen.
