The Front and Back of Robe

This robe dates from the Qing Dynasty which dates back to 1644-1911. It measures 54.75" cuff to cuff and 43.5" from neck to bottom. The robe is made of a dark blue satin with black satin forming the background of the decorative bands. The decorative bands run along the length of the robe and has a floral motif which consists mostly lotus flowers. The center opening has three toggle and loops; the bottom two are gold and the top toggle is made of cloth. The robe is split up along the sides and the band continues up the split which is 15" in length. There are six large butterflies and two flower pots on the lower portion of the robe. The back of the robe is a mirror image with two exceptions, there is no center opening and the back on the cuff is highly embroidered. KSUM 1983.1.1938AB.
