The Front and Back

This robe dates from the Qing Dynasty which dates back to 1644-1911. It measures 76" from cuff to cuff and 56.5" from the neck to the bottom. The scarlet robe is made of satin and is embellished with embroidery. The robe is fastened together with the toggle and loop method and the seam curves along the right of the robe. The front of the robe has three full crane roundels and two half roundels on each shoulder. There is a large bottom border of a water motif with various symbols. The back of the robe is very similar to the front with the exception of an opening seam. KSUM 1983.1.816.
