Linda B. Walker is associate professor of music, music education program coordinator, and director of the university gospel choir.  She earned the Ph.D. in Music Education & Music Therapy at the University of Kansas. Both Master of Music Education (M.M.E.) and Bachelor of Music Education (B.M.E.) degrees were earned at Jackson State University.

Walker is published in the Journal of Research in Music Education, Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, Contributions to Music Education, Music Educators Journal, and others. She co-authored Readings in Early Childhood Music Education, with Dr. Barbara L. Andress, and has contributed to several books related to general music and multicultural music. Additionally, Walker is invited to present clinics, workshops and lectures throughout the country.

Walker and the KSU Gospel Choir, which she founded in 1996, enjoy an excellent local, regional, national, and international reputation.  Walker had the unique opportunity to teach gospel music master classes with Scuola di Musica di Fiesole Youth Choir, Vocimania, and choirs at the St. James American Church in Florence, Italy.  As a result of this work, she received the Kent State University Creative Contribution Award and Phi Beta Delta Honor Society International Education Award.  Additionally, she recently received the Distinguished Woman of Kent State Award.
