Linda is professor of music education—teaching graduate and undergraduate classes—and former chair of music education, a post she held for more than 10 years. Walker is also well known as
Founder/Director of the Kent State University Gospel Choir, one of the few gospel choirs in the country offered for university credit. Under Walker’s leadership, the KSU Gospel Choir enjoys an excellent local, regional, national, and international reputation.
Linda is invited to present clinics, workshops, and lectures throughout the country. Her research is published in prestigious music education journals, including Journal of Research Music Education, Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, Music Educators Journal, and in books related to general and multicultural music. Among her awards are the Distinguished Woman of Kent State, Creative Contribution Award, and Phi Beta Delta Honor Society International Education Award.
She earned the Ph.D. in music education & therapy at the University of Kansas, master and bachelor of music education at Jackson State University, and is a registered music therapist..
