Currently the one-week field trip focuses on Berlin and Dresden.  It begins on Sunday evening when the class meets in Berlin for dinner. The class travels there using their EurailPass.

Monday - Wednesday Themes: Holocaust, Division of Europe and German Unification
Guided Tours: Berlin, Checkpoint Charley Museum, Concentration Camp Sachsenhausen, Holocaust Memorial. The class is also briefed at the U.S. Embassy and meets with officials at Bayer-Schering Incorporated.  Two sessions provide an opportunity for discussions with an eye witnesses of the time of Checkpoint Charley, and life in the former German Democratic Republic, the fall of the wall and unification. Alexanderplatz and the Reichtstagsgebäude Dome are also visited in Berlin. 
Dresden Themes: Dresden  - World Heritage Site and the Florence of the Elbe
Late Thursday and Friday is usually spent in Dresden, the city fire bombed in W.W.II. and includes: Guided walking your in Dresden Old Town,  boat trip on the  Elbe, guided tour of the New Green Vault, Dresden Royal Museum.
