Switzerland's
fourth largest city is Bern, founded in 1191 by Berthold V.
The capital is named to honor
the bear, still the capital's heraldic mascot.
Apparently Berthold killed one on his first hunt there, (Bar in
German, and Barn in local dialect).
City sites include the 15th
century gothic cathedral with the
highest spire (100 m) in the country, baby-eating
Ogre Fountain,
Zeitglockenturm clock (1545), and the bridge that everyone has in their
photo
collection.
