Delft is a beautiful city of more than 750 years.  Vermeer, the renowned master painter worked here (The Girl with a Pearl Earring). Four centuries ago the Father of the Nation, William of Orange, led the revolt against Philip II, then ruler of the Netherlands and king of Spain.  William was assassinated in Delft.  For more than four hundred years, the city has  been world-famous for blue earthenware.  A sample of earthenware is below, followed by William's tomb.
