The one-week
field trip is a distinguishing feature of the Geneva Semester. You
travel travel to
some of the most important European economic, political and
international organizations
where you will be briefed by, and discuss issues with the staff of
those
institutions. The trip also includes visits to places of cultural
and historic significance. Your
program fee includes lodging, breakfasts, two meals, and local
transportation on the field trip.
The
field trip agenda varies each semester, but includes activities
pertinent to the international relations curricula, the cultural of
Europe as well as matters involving economics and international
business. The field trip agenda for the fall 2007 was:
Berlin
- Dresden Monday ● Guided tour of the infamous Stasi Prison ● Visit to the dome of the Reichtstagsgebäude Tuesday ● German Foreign Office briefing on U.S.-German Relations ● Guided Tour of Mauermuseum Checkpoint Charley and discussion with an eye witness of the time. ● Briefing in the US Embassy on “ ● Discussion with an eyewitness on life in the former German Democratic Republic, the fall of the wall and today’s problems with unification, and the film “Lives of Others” Wednesday
● Holocaust Memorial ● Guided tour at the Concentration Camp Sachsenhausen ● Check out of the hotel ● Presentation at Wissenschaftszentrum fur Sozialforschung Berlin, "Corporate Governance and the German Economic Model" ● Train to Dresden Thursday - Saturday: Dresden as a World Heritage and the Florence of the Elbe.” Thursday continued ● Arrival in Dresden Hauptbahnhof ● Check in Hostel Mondpalast followed by dinner at Restaurant Pulvertum Friday ● Guided Walking Tour in Dresden Old Town ● Guided tour of the Alte Meister Gallery ● Guided Tour of the New Green Vault, Dresden Royal Museum Saturday Morning ● Check out and departure |
