| Genève is a
starting point for several day excursions. The tourist area around Lake
Genève (Lac Lèman in
French) is known as Vaud (the name of the canton). The headquarters
for the Olympic
games is in
Lausanne and features videos,
archive film,
memorabilia and much more. The shoreline of the city is seen here
in the quiet of dusk. |

Basel shares a boarder with France on
the Rhine River. The city, with its unique town hall facade, has
25 museums. The picturesque Annecy is just over the boarder in
France. |

The Swiss Riviera is between Lausanne and
Villeneuve on Lac Lèman.
The main resorts are Vevey and Montreux. The classical
Montreux-Vevey Music Festival is in the fall and the world-famous
jazz festival is in the summer. The 11th century Chateau de
Chllon is there and has more visitors than any other historical
building in Switzerland. Everyone in the program visits it too. Montreux's colorful
promenade is seen here. ► To the Chateau
