International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) provides a broad range of services to Kent State University international students, scholars, faculty, and university administrators.
In ISSS we:
- Provide information to prospective international students and their admission to the University.
- Assist non-immigrant students, scholars, and faculty, with federal and state regulations concerning:
- Forms I - 20 and DS - 2019 for entry and re-entry into the U.S. for F and J visa holders.
- Verification of legal status.
- Extensions of legal stay in the U.S.
- Changes of immigration status.
- Exits from and entries to the U.S.
- Employment authorization for on and off-campus during and after academic programs.
- Social Security Card information.
- Assist university departments in complying with immigration regulations concerning the employment of international faculty and staff on H, J, O and TN visas.
- Provide information for pre-arrival planning on topics, such as visa regulations, health insurance, and immunization requirements, and housing.
- Orient new students and scholars to the community and the university.
- Serve as Chapter headquarters for the Beta Zeta Chapter of Phi Beta Delta, the national honorary society for international scholars.
- Serve as a contact to assist the student, scholars and university offices supporting applications for permanent residence and in resolving problems related to non-U.S. citizens.
- Coordinate the collection and distribution of free household items to new international students and visiting scholars through the Allerton Family Housing International Resource Center.
