Summer Reading Project

The Office of First-Year Experience and the Summer Reading Advisory Board have chosen this year’s Summer Reading Project book, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.

The goal of the Kent State Summer Reading Project is to provide first-year students with a shared intellectual experience to unify the community as well as engage them in a campuswide intellectual dialogue that will continue throughout the fall semester.

Before arriving at Kent State University, all first-year students are expected to read The Kite Runner and complete a writing assignment that was sent out by the First-Year Experience Office in the month of May. You can also find this assignment online at explore.kent.edu/FYE. Don’t forget to return to this website in June to post and read comments from your fellow 2012 classmates on the Kite Runner Blog.

We hope that you enjoy reading The Kite Runner. The entire Kent State community looks forward to meeting you in August and engaging you in your first intellectual experience as a Kent State University student.
